Hopkins Day 2019 July 31, 2019 | by Jessica Hopkins Day is an annual event, usually at the end of July. The week leading up to Hopkins Day is a big, annual week of clean up where the grass is cut and any debris or trash is picked up. The village looks its best. Everyone pitches in because they are proud to invite visitors to the village and see how beautiful it is.
Residency Approved June 13, 2019 | by Jessica We applied for Belize Residency in August 2018 after living here for a full year. We had our interview in August (2 weeks after submitting) and a follow up police interview about a month after that. Then we waited. I had heard complaints that residency applications could take YEARS to get approved. Surprisingly, we got the call in January that we were approved!! It only took 6 months.
How to buy sneakers in Dangriga January 21, 2019 | by Jessica Somehow, this past fall, Rex’s feet must have grown very quickly and I found myself in immediate need of some new sneakers. Obviously, after living in Belize for over a year, I knew a next day delivery from Zappos was not gonna happen. Birthday in Belize with Chocolate and San Ignacio November 18, 2017 | by Jessica Before coming to Belize, I was already anticipating Fay’s birthday, which would occur within a couple months of our arrival. Knowing that Fay had not made many friends here yet, and wouldn’t be celebrating with a party filled with other 10 year olds, I wanted to make her birthday feel special in other ways.
Kids start at Sittee River Methodist School September 14, 2017 | by Jessica We arrived in Belize about 4 weeks before the school year began. Ryan and I both wanted the kids to be here for a nice length of time before school began, so they could get comfortable just being in a new country and at the resort. As the days counted down and we got closer to school starting, there were knots in my stomach.
