Visiting Belize in Summer - Festivals and Events

Some people consider summer to be the shoulder season in Belize, a bit slower than the “high season”, but thats not what comes to mind when I think of summer. Summer season is Festival season in Belize. Come visit Belize as a tourist and experience some of what the locals do for fun.

Hopkins Mango Street Fest

Every May and June the mango trees are full of ripe mangoes. Honestly, there are too many for this small village to consume. Did you know that Belize has over 50 different varieties of mangoes? Ask anyone what their favorite type of mango is and you’ll get a different answer. They have super creative names like, Blue, Number 11, Apple. We have a giant mango tree at Beaches and Dreams which produces Apple mangoes. We have to be careful not to park our tour vans under the mango tree this time of year because a dropping mango will shatter a windshield. No joke.

Every year in May or June, Hopkins puts on our annual Mango Street Fest. This year Mango Fest will be for two days, June 14-15, 2025. During these two days vendors of food, crafts, drinks and games will line the main street of Hopkins. There are many mango themed food and drinks to try. There is also live music and fun games for kids. Its a nice way for locals to make money, by hosting a booth, as many Belizeans will come from near and far to enjoy the weekend.
